Used by leading doggy bakeries, Sweet Paws dog icing mix is reliable and versatile. The dog icing mix is suitable to make hard Dog Icing for dog cookies and treats, as well as Dog Friendly Fondant by simply adding water to it. It is hard setting with a matt finish. When Greek yoghurt is substituted with water, it is ideal for making luscious Dog Friendly Frosting to decorate dog cakes and cupcakes. Whipped with Greek yoghurt and frozen, it makes a delightful Doggy Ice Cream.

RATIOS

These are easy to follow ratios, but scale to suit your needs.

Dog Friendly Fondant: 224ml water per 1kg mix

Dog Icing

  • Piping: 330ml water per 1kg mix
  • Ice 'n' Bake method: 500ml water per 1kg mix

Dog Friendly Frosting: ~830g Greek yoghurt per 1kg mix

Doggy Ice Cream: ~4kg Greek yoghurt per 1kg mix

INSTRUCTIONS

Dog Friendly Fondant: You will need to use a mixer and mix will appear dry. Do not add extra water, keep mixing for at least 2 mins. Roll out and work on a board lightly dusted with corn flour.

Dog Icing: Combine 80% of the water and the dog icing mix. Let stand for 1 minute and check consistency. Mix thoroughly, adding balance of the liquid as required and checking the consistency. If adding colours, preferably use powder and use liquid or gel with care.

  • Piping: Consistency needs to be as stiff as possible, yet still able to be piped.
  • Ice 'n' Bake: Place iced cookies on a cake rack and bake for approximately 20 minutes in a slow oven (100°C on fan bake). No hotter or the icing will brown. May be baked, piped and baked again. Can also be air-dried (takes up to 48 hours).

Dog Friendly Frosting: In place of water, use Greek yoghurt with the dog icing mix and mix thoroughly. Let stand for a few minutes, check & adjust. Yoghurt water content varies so you are better to commence with less yoghurt, then add icing to it. The dog frosting mixture should be wetter than piping mix.

Once you get the desired consistency, it can be used as mousse, frosting or piped like buttercream.

Doggy Ice Cream: In place of water, use about 4kg Greek yoghurt to 1kg of dog icing mix. Whip in a mixer, on high, for 3 mins. Pour into small, individual serve containers and freeze. Turn out of containers to serve. Yoghurt water content varies and you may need to adjust the quantity through quite a range - approximately 15%.
